Abstract

The theory of the social organism was a common approach at the time of the beginning of the 20th century and it was used by many theoretical directions in sociology and economics. Very well known is the approach of Rudolf Steiner, but not so well know is that of Rudolf Stolzmann. The later was a representative of the “social law movement of economics” and as a philosopher he was a representative of the neo-Kantian philosophy (Marburg school, south-west german school). Stolzmann knew the theory of social organism of Steiner and he even cited him in his works. This paper aims to compare the theory of social organism of Rudolf Steiner and Rudolf Stolzmann and wants to find similarities and differences. Stolzmann and Steiner have emphasized the importance of the mind and furthermore the importance of the legal side for the society and economy. Steiner had a more practical approach. His concept of social organism is more a suggestion for a reform of the society and the economy and on the other side Stolzmann´s theory is a general theory which is always relevant.
